Written words or drawings are an outlet to help us understand what the mind is saying (or trying to say). This simple act of letting it out onto the page helps to release many ideas, worries, frustration, stress, feelings and a lot of confusion in the mind, FOR ALL AGES.
Depression, Anxiety and Suicide are on the rise. Writing or drawing thoughts 'out of the head' is proven to synchronise, prioritise and rationalise our thoughts.
I am extremely passionate about keeping the next generation able to write or draw out their mindchat. There’s nothing more beautiful than the written word, a fresh hand drawn picture, or the acceptance of your feelings.
I have a dream that our youth will remember how to write out their thoughts, to write songs, to draw symbols or pictures, to doodle, whatever it is that helps them to synchronise the thoughts in the head. Writing your mind chat out assists in prioritising whatever is going on in the mind, it aids in starting the ball rolling towards being able to talk about your thoughts with others.
Depression, anxiety and suicide are on the rise in our country. There is still a wall up around being able to talk about your thoughts in a safe environment. If I can save one person from heading into black hole, by providing them with a platform to get the thoughts out of their head and onto the page. Which in turn helps them find the strength and words to ask for help, then I will have succeeded.
Writing and drawing is proven to aid so many mental health issues, it's a chance to be creative and find out so much more about yourself. It is also such a great tool to initiate asking for help, or sharing your true feelings on a matter. I'm desperate to make sure my tweens make it through the teens and adulthood able to express themselves, and if writing or drawing is where it all begins, then Im all for it!
Let’s start writing again! Off the screen and onto the page. Find the inner creativity. It’s the perfect outlet to be true to yourself.
