Module 8:

Visualisation, Career and Blood types

Whats New and good this week everyone? Please write it down and share it in the forum. It's so great to document these things in your notebook, you can read back on that in time and its great to see the progress you are making and to just generally see what is happening over time.

How is the exercise going?  Did you spend some time on your relationships? Tell us all about it in the forum please. You have no idea how much your small win can ignite motivation and excitement for another. Go on xxx

How many of you have heard of synchronicity? It's such an awesome word, it seems to sum everything up into a ball, and when it happens, its amazing!

Synchronicity was a term originally created by Carl Jung to describe the meaningful coincidences that occur in one's life.  The term has been popularized in the mass media by the Police's album Synchronicity, and more recently by The Celestine Prophecy by James Redfield.

Synchronicity can best be described by examples.   A friend of mine was wondering whether or not he should follow through on his decision to get a divorce.  He turned on the radio and found an ad for available apartments.  He smiled and knew what he needed to do.

Another example would be thinking of a friend and receiving a phone call from that friend at that time.  Another example would be watching a movie and seeing within the story of that film a metaphor for your own life situation.  When you are open to synchronistic events, they can help you make choices in your life, because they are a form of guidance from the Universe.

Not many people are comfortable at first with the idea that the Universe is giving them guidance.  What helps to make it more understandable is to see all energy and matter as interconnected.  One part of the web affects the other.  Therefore, all parts of the web are informing each other at all times.  We are undeniably interconnected.  Therefore, it would make sense that two seemingly disconnected events (thinking about leaving one's partner and turning on the radio) are actually interconnected.

Tarot cards, and other forms of divination such as runes and I Ching coins are examples of tools that can be used to divine patterns and aids in understanding guiding energies.  The people you meet or simply run into on the street; the shirt that someone you walk by is wearing; the license plate or bumper sticker of the car in front of you.  These are all examples of synchronicity.  No, you're not crazy.  You are part of the Universe, and the Universe is communicating with itself. - Synchronicity times

You really do have to slow down to notice what synchronicity is. When it happens you can smile to yourself and realise that the universe really is telling you something! Then you can use your intuition to decide if/how/when and where you are going to act on it.

Think of 3 times when synchronicity has occurred in your life. It doesn't have to be huge, even the smallest things can happen through synchronicity. Just yesterday I was thinking about how dirty my car is, I was going to drive through the car wash as my children love it, but as I came up the drive way in the wind a bucket blew across the porch - I realised that was the universe suggesting I enjoyed some Vitamin D, got outside and washed my own car and used the $12 on something else. Sure - I didn't need to notice that, in fact, in the past I may not have noticed that - but because these days I have a wider perspective on things and realise that the universe works in a balancing act I took that as my cue to know what to do.

It turns out my 7 year old son and I had an absolute ball, we ended up soaking wet and he told about 4 people that afternoon how much fun he had had washing the car. Yay for Mum time! It was nice to be reminded that I had done the right thing. It also meant, no stress as we just stayed around home tidying up and reading stories.

I guess, it's really just about being in the right place at the right time. If you follow your gut instinct and do what 'feels' right, rather than what you 'should' do, then you will be where the universe wants you to be at a certain time. Embrace this, don't fight it!

Do you practice meditation at all? Do you know anyone who does?

Meditation is a wonderful way to 'get out of your own head' and just stop for a while and appreciate your body and its actions.

Despite all its popularity, today very few of us truly know what meditation is. Some regard meditation is the mental concentration on something, others consider that we meditate when we imagine something that gives us peace or satisfaction. All these methods are being with one goal to slow down and, eventually, completely stop the incessant activity of our minds. These exercises are not really meditation – they are substitutes for meditation because it is normally very difficult to stop our minds all-together.

In reality, meditation is a state of thoughtless awareness. It is not an act of doing – it is a state of awareness. We either in this state or we are not, regardless of what we are doing in life. Truly, a man can be in meditation while doing his day’s labors as another man can be very far from meditation while sitting in a 'lotus' yoga posture on the top of a mountain.

When we take a look at the various explanations of meditation, another thing we often see is that meditation is defined as taking a moment to sit quietly or to ponder. True meditation, however is much more than this. It is a state of profound, deep peace that occurs when the mind is calm and silent, yet completely alert. This is just the beginning of an inner transformation that takes us to a higher level of awareness. This enables us to fulfill our true human potential.

The problem, of course, is how to achieve this state!

Concentration is an effort to fix the attention on a particular object or idea for a long period of time. The techniques used in visualization are another type of concentration.

Loss of control

Sounds, voices, colors and involuntary movements have nothing to do with meditation or spirituality. These are symptoms of loss of awareness and loss of control over some parts of ourselves.

Exercises, such as postures and breathing, do not constitute meditation. They may help establish some balance if under the guidance of a true master (a realized soul). Their practice without a true spiritual goal only leads to an imbalance in the right channel.

Meditation is seen by a number of researchers as potentially one of the most effective forms of stress reduction. While stress reduction techniques have been cultivated and studied in the West for approximately 70 years, data indicates that they are not consistently effective.

Meditation however, has been developed in Eastern cultures and has a documented history of more than several thousand years. Eastern meditative techniques have been developed, trialed and refined over hundreds of generations with the specific intention of developing a method by which the layperson can regularly attain a state of mental peace and tranquillity, ie. relief from stress. It is a strategy that can easily be adapted to the needs of clinicians and their patients in the West.

The growing emphasis of meditation is on:

• Quality of life outcomes concepts such as mind–body medicine and reducing healthcare costs suggest that stress reduction and improving mental health are becoming increasingly relevant to healthcare and larger corporations (Yay! Finally!)

• Meditation can be an effective form of stress reduction and has the potential to improve quality of life and decrease healthcare costs.

• Meditation is effortless and leads to a state of ‘thoughtless awareness’ in which the excessive stress producing activity of the mind is neutralised without reducing alertness and effectiveness.

• Authentic meditation enables one to focus on the present moment rather than dwell on the unchangeable past or undetermined future.

• There is little quality evidence comparing one meditation technique with another or meditation with relaxation techniques.

• The theoretical explanation for the effects of meditation and relaxation techniques is that the release of catecholamines and other stress hormones are reduced and parasympathetic activity is increased.

Learning to Let Go

Now, as you have read there is active meditation and there is still meditation and there are many many apps, places, teachers and webinars on meditation and if you would like some more information please just email me, as it will depend on your place in the world as to which of these I would recommend.

A really good place to start active or still methods, depending on your lifestyle is to look at short meditations that run for simply 5 - 15 minutes twice a day.

As you know meditation involves letting go. You need to let go of everything that is bothering you, everything that is going on and just be in the moment! There is a concept called 'The flying trapeze concept' it is a beautiful little read and really resonates with many of us.

What could you let go of? How can you live a simpler life? Have you already had an "aha" moment, while thinking about ways you could slow down and how meditation might benefit you?

I challenge you to really downsize and let go of something...

Share this in your notebook and on the group forum page. Letting go really is the best feeling in the world!

I recently let go of worrying about things I couldn't control. I was so wrapt up in worrying about upset friends and family - or even acquaintances who were having a rough time. I realised I couldn't do anymore to help them and that the 'worry' was such  wasted emotion. By me walking around worrying about them no one was winning. I was wasting energy on nothing, my family were suffering because I was a million miles away in my own head. I then decided to act upon certain situations e.g make a caring phone call, drop some flowers off, send a nice text message, but then I learnt to cut it off there. Of course I would be there if they called me or came over of whatever, but when I wasn't with them I needed to 'let go' of the worry and just let life take its course.

Worry consumes us a lot of the time, but do you agree with me, it is a wasted emotion?! Act on it, or just leave it...but wondering and worrying are pointless! Do you agree?

Visualisation is such great way to reach your goals.

What you see in your mind is often what you create in life. It can be done for any goal and with any circle of life area. The best part is, no one else knows what you are visualising, you don't have to share it, therefore you don't need to feel self-conscious about it at all. It's your imagination and your opportunity to dream big and really think about what matters to you and what you want from life.

See your goal, taste it, smell it, feel it, hear it  - and it doesn't need to be just a career goal, it can be anything!

I have an awesome exercise here for you to get you into the mindset of visualisation. So grab a pen and your notebook and click onto this video to begin your visualisation exercise.

Right! How did your visualising go? What kind of things did you discover about yourself. Please share with the group, we would love to know how everyone got on.

Next up I want you to pull out a fresh CIRCLE OF LIFE I want you to see what is changing in your life from this program. You will now be looking at things with a different perspective. How different are things? are they different at all? If they are not, then take a minute and write down the main segment or two main segments that you wish to see some movement in. Place them in a circle, then outside the circle write different changes that you could make to see this segment move.

e.g Relationship (Husband/wife/partner) - Spend a night a week eating dinner together, make an effort to say Hello and ask how each others day was, communicate more when a situation arises (before blowing up when there is so much in your head or on your plate), take a second to kiss properly once a day....things like this - small things that will make a world of difference!

Then one step at a time input these changes in to your life. Suddenly it's not just a realisation anymore and you will be amazed at the response you receive. Share if you like, we would love to hear what is going on.

Can be done for any goal and with any circle of life area - lets do circle of life again

For those of you who are struggling to connect with someone close to you, here is a Connection exercise to try if you wish:

1 Find a partner, friend, family member, neighbour, colleague.

2 Take a deep breath, relax and sit in front of your partner

3 Hold your partners hands, look at each other in the eye in silence and connect.

4 Close your eyes and just be with the person - let your thoughts go and just feel the other persons energy

5 Sit quietly for a few minutes and see what you feel in your minds eye and in your heart by connecting with the other person, feeling their energy. Connection is OK, it is safe

6 Open your eyes and look at the person

7 Share what you noticed connecting with them. How was it

8 What did they notice about themselves?

Food recommendations for this week

Last week we looked at Auyrveda, how did you respond to eating certain ways?

Are you starting to find foods that work for you and foods that don't?

Are you finding your Food and mood diary is helping you to keep track of all of this? Remember to go back through and see how much your habits have changed, your moods, your foods, your aches, pains, bowel movements, everything!

This week we are going to take a look at the Blood type diet.

Peter J D'Adamo created this diet and claims that the foods you eat react chemically with your blood type. If you follow a diet designed for your blood type, your body will digest food more efficiently. You'll lose weight, have more energy, and help prevent disease.

What you can eat depends on your blood type. Here's what D'Adamo recommends for each type:

Type O blood: A high-protein diet heavy on lean meat, poultry, fish, and vegetables, and light on grains, beans, and dairy. D'Adamo also recommends various supplements to help with tummy troubles and other issues he says people with type O tend to have.

Type A blood: A meat-free diet based on fruits and vegetables, beans and legumes, and whole grains -- ideally, organic and fresh, because D'Adamo says people with type A blood have a sensitive immune system.

Type B blood: Avoid corn, wheat, buckwheat, lentils, tomatoes, peanuts, and sesame seeds. Chicken is also problematic, D'Adamo says. He encourages eating green vegetables, eggs, certain meats, and low-fat dairy.

Type AB blood: Foods to focus on include tofu, seafood, dairy, and green vegetables. He says people with type AB blood tend to have low stomach acid. Avoid caffeine, alcohol, and smoked or cured meats.

So, first of all you need to find out your blood type, this is easy to ascertain, just head down to your local doctors and tell them you would like a blood test to know your blood type. They may stear you clear of this diet or they may support it. As you know, I am not suggesting you strictly adhere to any diet, I just want you to be aware of everything around you that is influencing your physical and mental being and be able to make your own choices towards how you wish to eat and drink!

I would really like you to look at your blood type, you may think, this woman is crazy - she is firing all these different diet types at us, but the idea is to get you thinking about what works for you and what doesn't. Its not about calorie counting, its about finding foods that energise and calm you, foods that make you happy and healthy and provide you with a longevity of life.

Once you have your blood type confirmed here are the different files for each blood type. Simply click on the file with DIFFERENT BLOOD TYPE DIETS to find out your particular genetic situation. See how you feel about your moods, life and situation and whether or not you think this could be a good exercise to follow for a while to see how you feel.

Quick re-cap

So, this week you need to slow down and breathe!

I would like to see you use visualisation to see and reach your goals. Remember no one else can see what you are thinking! It's all yours to dream as you wish.

Challenge yourself to eliminate something this week that is not serving you. Whether, its a task thats unneseccary, a toxic relationship or a food habit you know is not benefitting you.

Finally, go and find out your blood type, it's always good to know. That way you can do something for others and donate blood if you don't already.  Remember that the blood type diet isn't the be all and end all, but its really interesting to try everything out and find something that works for you. Therefore its really important to keep your food and mood diary up to date.  Why not try it for a week? The idea of this program isn't to set you up on new diets and confuse you, it is to help you try new foods and suggestions out, so that you can establish what works for you and what doesn't. These are all just theories to help you learn to know yourself better.

Over time I have learned that by meshing all of the different diets together in a way that suits my lifestyle best works wonders for me. At the end of the day there is a constant, underlying theme to all of them which is REAL food.

If you are confused, or angry, or wondering what the heck..share it! Let's get you sorted and feeling in control. I want this to bring up some controversy so you can really figure yourself out.

Next week we are going to start on an Elimination diet for those who are suffering from allergies, so again make sure you are taking note of everything you are eating, we need awareness. Keep that food and mood diary up if you are finding you are slipping in regards to awareness.

While you have your notebook out take a look at your goals and re-set anything that needs to be re-set and tick off anything that you feel can be checked off. Now focus on what else is there and keep focussing on checking that off.

Well done and a big hug x
